Baking and cooking are not only essential life skills, but they can also be a creative outlet for those who have a passion for it. For some, it may be a way to connect with their heritage, while for others, it could be a hobby that they discovered through a loved one. In my case, I got my talent in baking and cooking from my grandmother.
When I was 15 years old, my grandmother taught me how to bake oatmeal cookies for my classmates. It was my first baking experience, and I was amazed at how simple ingredients such as flour, sugar, and butter could turn into a delicious treat. Since then, I’ve always enjoyed cooking good food and baking yummy pastries for my loved ones.
During the pandemic lockdown, like many others, I found myself spending more time at home. To satisfy my sweet tooth cravings, I started baking my own favorite cakes. I made a lot of goodies in batches and delivered them to my friends and family to show my love and care for them during those hard days. To my delight, they loved ALL my cakes, and everybody suggested that I sell and put up my own cake business.
The idea of starting my own cake business was both thrilling and nerve-wracking. I had no experience in running a business, but my love for baking made me take the leap. I started baking 60-100 batches of cakes in a day, and I was enjoying every minute of it. It was challenging, but it was also a great opportunity to learn and grow as a baker.
Starting my own cake business was one of the best decisions I’ve made. It allowed me to turn my passion into a career, and I get to share my love for baking with others. More importantly, it made me realize that talent alone is not enough. To succeed in anything, you need hard work, dedication, and the willingness to take risks.
In conclusion, discovering my love for baking and cooking has been a journey that started with my grandmother’s guidance. Through the pandemic, I was able to turn my passion into a business that allowed me to share my love for baking with others. It has been a fulfilling and rewarding experience, and I am excited to see where this journey will take me next.
